Fortune Gems 3
Fortune Gems 3 is one of those games you pick up for a minute and put down forty minutes later. The whole thing is built around a small grid of colorful gems that you line up and clear. Controls are as simple as it gets — a tap here, a swipe there — and the game reads your intent well, which matters a lot on a phone screen.
What surprised me is how satisfying the feedback is. Each cleared line comes with a soft chime and a burst of light, and the pacing keeps you moving without feeling frantic. It's clearly meant for short breaks, and it nails that mood. I played it one-handed on the tram without ever fumbling.
It won't reinvent the casual genre, and the later screens repeat visual ideas a bit. But as a calm, colorful time-filler it does its job cleanly, and the loading is instant, which I appreciate more than I'd like to admit.
